Who would have thought gardening and sewing could be so dangerous? (Please note, the activities were not carried out at the same time.) The, admittedly very large, rose trees took great exception to my trying to cut off the dead flowers. I was variously grabbed, scratched and jabbed by the roses attempting to protect their dead flowers. I thought they would like to make new flowers.

Then this evening a dressmaking pin decided to hide in the folds of the fabric. It obviously had the express intention of jabbing me very hard on one of my fingers.

Ouch!

In other news, we fettled my keyboard, and got the missing letters working, but decided it needed a wash as well anyway.

Now something is stuck down, so I can't even log in with it! Poo!

Could have been worse.
I can attest that getting a great big splinter in one's buttock hurts, and is embarrassing.
I had to get a first aider to remove it.
*winces*

EDIT - that's a reply to Speicher's missive. I must type more quickly.

Short thumb shorter? The splinter had embedded itself under the nail, without me noticing it was there. Until a week later when I woke up with my arm a very funny sort of purple and green colour and swollen. I went to the Doctor who sent me straight to A and E, handily  just over the road.

Ouch. Sounds unpleasant.
In other news, I saw a Bran Wol earlier on
First time I've seen a wild one. I'd imagined they were nocturnal, but this was about 5 pm or so.

It was. They did not need to amputate the thumb. But they did need to remove some damaged nerves in the nail bed, under general anaethestic. The result was an enormous bandage and my arm in a sling for a week or so. There is a funny side to it, though. When people saw my arm in a sling, of course they asked what I had done. Cue much falling about laughing when I said I had got a splinter in my thumb.

Sounds like the time I slipped getting out of the bath and had a month off work!!
(I dislocated my shoulder, and it wasn't put back till the following morning. I then had it in a sling for a fortnight, then had physio for a month to get the movement back. I had a job that involved typing at the time. And yes, it hurt. Rather a lot.)
