Thank you. NT just gave me a couple of squirts of magic throat stuff, when the pain suddenly became worse, so it's ebbed a bit again now. Think I'll need a painkiller to sleep, and I'll keep the lozenges to hand overnight.
I often think (well, when I have one) that a sore throat is one of the worst minor pains to have, because you can't rest your throat due to the swallowing reflex, or apply a soothing hot water bottle.
