Just done a water change and a gravel vac on the fish tank, now have lots of happy little fishes. The tank is looking good. I'm thinking about wondering into town as have applied to some volunteer posts, waiting for them to email me back. Can I get anyone anything while I'm out?

You could answer a gardening question for me please. I have successfully grown about ten Potentillas from cuttings. They are all about 12" tall. I got them in a muddle, and forgot which was which colour-wise. So I let them flower to see what colour they are (bright yellow, medium yellow, yellow and white, or white). Regarding the ones that have flowered should I cut off the flowers, so that they do not "waste energy" flowering?

I have now carefully labelled the ones that have flowered.

It wont do any harm cutting the flowers off, but you usually do that after the flowers have died. You need to cut them completely back in winter anyway.

I did not know about cutting them completely back in winter. I have some very large potentillas in my garden. As they are so easy to look after, I thought I would try some cuttings. I also have some young buddleia plants. Two are the Black Knight, ie very deep purple, and one is called something like Lindyanna. It is about to flower, and looks like it might be a pale lilac or even a pink. ^_^

My cuttings of Cotinus coggygria (Golden Smoke bush) are still alive but do not seem to be growing. I am also growing some Bottle brush plants from cuttings. I have much more success with cuttings than with growing plants from seeds.

Hello all! Just a quick drop in, before we have a spot of lunch, now that Max is having his nap.

We spent last night in a tent in the garden.

We're not going to do that again....

(It rained, and it was a bit too cramped, especially for NT's poorly feet. So we're going to try the living room floor tonight!)

NT says hello too. He can't get a mobile signal very well. I think we must be living next door to Speicher.....;)

Lunch in a minute, some posh scotch eggs from the place we went to for coffee this morning.
