I did knock on his door and so his wife knows I am here in this car but she couldn't help me.

So over the last couple of weeks I have changed the Jockey wheels, the chain, the cassette and all the brake and gear cables ( after my read gear cabke snapped half way round the Otley Sportive on Saturday ) and last night my bike is still making the most awful noise when I ride it .

So I decided to turn my attention to the wheel bearings and the freehub and the wheel bearings sound rough. I cant be bothered to deal with them so I dropped my bike into my local LBS which is run by a friend of mine. He rang me to tell me that the bearings are shot the front is just loose bearings so no problem but the rear is roller bearings so have to be ordered, so I will be without my bike until next week, it is the first time for 2.5 years we have spent the night apart he also snapped his allen key getting to them, the freehub has been put on with locktite and wont come off but is ok at the moment so I will either get a new rear wheel when that knackers up as the rims are quite worn anyway or I will upgrade to a new bike next year.

I popped in to have a look at the bearings and the rear driveside are well knackered so that will explain the noise rattling throught the entire drivetrain

Hope you get it sorted - I know what you mean about being parted from your bike. If it stops the rattling then that''ll be great. All we need to do now is stop Colly beeping

I also have a hybrid that I bought in Jan for use in winter so I dont have to mess up the road bike, so I will take that out for a ride instead. Saturday is looking like it is going to be nice so if it is I might do a 100 miler on the hybrid I havent had the time to get a 100 miler in this year stuff always seems to crop up to stop me.

I am keeping quiet about it for now but will share if I am successful.
It is not a bent with a fusion reactor and a flux capacitor.

It was a very long and late process and I was getting very hungry by the time the chap managed to get home. Not his fault really, just a working bloke trying to keep in work by doing 50+ (flexible) hours a week.
