NT I have a question about wood worm.

In the lounge I have a very old wooden chest ie circa 1930. I had to move it to vacuum behind it today, and notices lots of very small round holes in the side. Has it got wood worm, and how can you tell if the worms are alive?

I use it to keep spare cushions and all sorts of other clutter in there, so it is a very useful chest.
If the worm is active there should be dust. Did you find lots of dust when you moved it out? If not then the holes can be long standing and treated/vacated in the past. Dust means it has been live as the 'worm' pushes the dust out just before the beetle takes flight IIRC.

You can treat it if it is live. You can get aerosol wood worm treatment which you squirt into the holes. Do that outdoors and with goggles and face protection as the holes can be 'U' shaped and the treatment can squirt out of any of the other holes and hit you in the eyes.

Speicher, maybe there are Borrowers living in the chest and what you think is woodworm is in fact their ventilation system?

Damhikt? No, certainly not. ;)

I do not think there is any dust around the holes. Not sure if there was any on the floor that I vacuumed up before noticing the holes

So that is who collects up things I have lost. They will be very comfy in there with all the cushions and some spare blankets.

The Smoothie maker has progressed a bit.
It is now a semi recumbent model with a hinge in the middle. Keeps the chain short and all in one half when folded.
The front end is a rear suspension triangle supported on a double sided stem with handle bars as legs.
The rectangular section spine is from a bit of scrap fitness equipment.
The hinge is from an old door!

I've not welded the spine onto the frames yet as I need to weld on the QR brackets.

Although, we might need some sort of backrest or handlebars to give the pedaller some purchase. Or just set it up against a wall....;)

The welds are rubbish. I have only about a balloonful of gas left and so I am just rushing the welds to get it all done before I run out.

There will be bars as it develops. Probably something that is part of the blender mounting.

Ah, I see!

What's really needed is a saddle off a chopper - weren't they known as 'banana' saddles? Perfect for smoothies...;)

Now, if you can find one....

I did think about just having the front half and then using that Barstool that is in the St Nick's compound. Then I figured that it might fall over and an armchair might be better but more difficult to fit on a bike trailer.:giggle:
