I have been out for lunch. Fish and chips were consumed followed by "Melt in the middle" chocolate pudding with cream. I do not usually eat a big meal at lunch time and now very I feel.

I have converted my welder to weld aluminium, using a teflon liner, argon mini gas bottle and aluminium wire. The liner didn't fit so I had to bodge it a bit, the mini gas bottle doesn't connect to the big hose from my size Y Argoshield bottle so I had to bodge that too.

The welds are not pretty, yet, and I think the mini gas bottle hasn't managed to purge all the air and Argoshield gas from the hose so the welds are a bit spotty and messy. However, it should work once all the trouble shooting as been shot.

I should actually get a real stainless steel wire brush to clean the aluminium but I haven't found one yet. That doesn't help either...

Still, I can make puddles of molten metal, just not where I want them yet.

You can see the horrible blobby bits of the welds and one cratered join and one good join.

I can't get the consistency though as the gas is leaking and the wire either doesn't feed, or bunches up, or burns back and each time I have to pull out the wire and start over.

Even with the same settings, sometimes it is too hot, then it isn't hot enough, then it melts the tube, or it just blobs all over the surface.

Also I think all my gas has leaked out!
Either that or the solenoid valve has expired!

Oh well.
