Can I have a large tea (with whiskey) and a large slice of sponge cake please? Winter blues has returned big time despite nice clear roads for my commute this morning. Fed-up with the rain too

Actually, make that 2 large slices. Comfort eating works for me
Oh my gosh. You people are crazy! What's with the torture? Just gimme the tea then please *slams door shut, runs to the cake shop and returns with large Victoria sponge and proceeds to stuff the lot*
*Bad influence alert* :surrender:

Biskit colour xx( .....could you get a doughnut coloured one? Then I'd visit more
They do it in a colour called Truffle, but that might be mushroom instead of chocolate.

Most sofas seem to have very wide arms, so that up to one third of the length, as it were, is arms, not seating area. John Lewis do the same sofa in a larger sofa, but it is a sofa bed. It is further complicated because I have two chairs in the lounge that are sort of a dark red with a bit of green and gold and orange, in a very modern leaf pattern. So finding an exact match in red is going to be impossible.

Having found out what a new sofa would cost in the right size, I could now find out if recovering the existing sofa, and replacing the foam in the seats, would be cost effective. Also if recovering a sofa there may be more choice of colours. The walls are very pale blue and the curtains are very dark blue.

I dislike the same thing.

I have a Chesterfield sofa that is 78" long and 24" is arms. But I also have a drop arm sofa that is 80" long and only 10" of that is arms.

I have been sorting out the wiring in the bedroom suite, having leveled and located the bath. However, I also found that one of the radiators up there is leaking. That may explain the damp patch in the kitchen alcove below.
The radiators are second hand so I might have to invest in some new ones.

Yes, same here. Today started ok, but went a bit flat, just like the offside rear tyre on the van we've hired to help out. We changed it, but it was a tiresome inconvenience, that put us back an hour.

From then on, although not much else actually went wrong, my mood spiralled downwards like a spirally downwards thing.

Beans on toast for dinner again, mainly because I couldn't be bothered to actually cook properly, having only got in just after 6.

Mum's ringing tonight, so I have to sound cheerful for an hour.

And I've run out of cheese.

:surrender: I thought I should come back and apologise for the tantrum earlier. Speicher, sorry but I'd already scoffed the cake by the time you rocked up

The comfort eating helped, as did a hot shower when I arrived home earlier. Whilst I'm not exactly watching what I eat I will be eating (more) fruit and vegetables whilst counting the days til daylight hours increase.

Salted peanuts anyone?

If I was talking on the phone to my Mother, I would struggle to sound cheerful for anything more than ten minutes.

It's not that talking to her makes me miserable, but it's an experience that does tend to go on a bit...

Usually about 15 minutes longer than the time it takes her to say "Well, I won't keep you..." for the first time.;)

Oh dear. Good that you got up there and did a bit (well, a lot by the sound of it) to salvage the day. I look forward to seeing the bath in situ!
