@ Rocky - I think NT already has an arc welder.
However, here's something he won't have.

Literally, LOL.
How long is the pattern repeat on the fabric you NT likes?
Is there another window in the house with the same width, but not so tall as the the tall one?
If so, what about buying two blinds, and making the join at the very top, or the very bottom, depending on which bit of the blind you will see most.
I think you can buy kits for making your own blinds, but I know that time is important. I agree it is a delicate pattern.
Yes, (if I may speak on his behalf while he's in the shower), he had thought about getting two and joining them. There is a glass panel in the door of the room that could do with a blind on the inside. He wasn't able to see how long the repeat was from the pack, so it's hard to tell.
Mum did make her own blind for her kitchen back door window, to match her kitchen curtains. That may be an option, but as you say, it might be more complication than we want just now.
He's been showing me the plastering so far, and tomorrow we do more. Then there will be some rubbing down and little bits of filling to do, and maybe by next weekend, we'll be painting.
It'll be amazing to get it done - it'll be the first full finished room we've worked on together (although NT of course has done much more than me).
Time for more
