Used to get whooping cough as a child so yes I know all about sitting over a bowl of hot water with Vick mixed in under a towel.... I'm OK breathing through my mouth, except when I'm eating which causes much hilarity at tea time... either breath or chew and swallow!

We're just in the clear area to the west of all that yellow and orange band crossing the coast of Northumberland... so not a sausage!

Even the amber weather warning from the BBC has missed the mark unless we get 2 to 4 inches of snow in the next hour and a half. Boo!
Valid from 0300 until 2100 Friday.
Friday 18th January 2013
AMBER WARNING of SNOW for northeast England.
Snow showers will continue across northeastern coastal areas of England with a further 5 to 10 cm of snow in places, mainly away from the immediate coastline, and perhaps a little more on hills. The public should be aware of possible disruption to travel through Friday night and the first part of Saturday.
