Many decades ago, I had a lovely holiday in Thurlestone.

Rocky - have you ever been to Barnstaple?
I had chish n fips there last year - there are very few chish n fips establishments open on a Sunday evening in March in that neck of the woods. We tried several towns before getting to Barnstaple. Was too busy looking out for somewhere open (and then too busy :hungry:) to see if there were any barns or staples.

I've never really explored the UK. Dream is to do a very relaxed version of LEJOGLE, zigzagging my way up and then coming back down the middle. Reality suggests doing it in stages might be more sensible!

Evening <cough> all.

I've <cough> got a <cough> cough.

Just a <cough> hangover from <cough> the virus we <cough> had, but <cough> very <cough> annoying!

The guest room is done, finished, complete, snagged, ready for furniture! :wahhey:

The finishing touches today were the window blinds from Ikea and the door threshold strip.

The threshold strip is made form a plank of Laburnum I cut from a tree I felled a few years ago from outside my house.

I also fitted a lampshade from Ikea. It is almost but not quite the same as the blinds.

The only snagging was three bits of plaster popped off some board screws so they have been filled and painted.

:bravo::wahhey::cheers:

The blinds look great! I'm so glad we found them!

And that laburnum is lovely. I wonder if you should try and have every threshold strip in the house in a different wood....

Are there that many different and available trees in the UK?

How many thresholds do you need?

<that's done it, I can see him now running round the house counting doors>

Ok, from first floor up (leaving out the workshops and granny flat for now), I reckon it's about 9 or 10?

There must be enough suitable woods, surely.

Just listing trees (not knowing which are good woods): cherry, oak, elm, birch, beech, chestnut, ash. Um... (Um isn't a tree, it's me thinking...)
