I am feeling a little bit more alive.
I cleared some more stuff from my basement workshop and found a whole pile of timber that turned out to be the jigs I used to make the chair Prince Charles used. Unfortunately the jigs are all slightly damp and mouldy, and probably distorted. In two minds as to whether to clean them and store them or dismantle them and chuck them*. I feel it is unlikely I will ever get to make another one.
I did also get to the tip and chuck out some more stuff though.
*Last weekend Arch and I dismantled the softwood mock up I had made of the chair, for testing, and recycled the timber into my stores and firewood pile.

I decided after doing three fiddley tiddley jobs, to tackle on of the bigger tasks: cleaning the patio with the pressure hose. 
I twiddled with the spray wosname to get the optimum width of spray to clean the slabs, and was doing well. Then after about ten minutes the machine started to sort of "cough and splutter". Long story short, including, of course some
I think the connection from the end of the hose to the outside tap has lost the ability to be tightened up securely and not spray water outside the hose, instead of inside it. This will be remedied when I visit the Ironmonger, where a very helpful assistant will tell me what I need. Or could it be the connection thingy in the trigger in the lance? 
Please note that some of the terminology in the above sentences may display an incomplete knowledge of the afore-mentionned terminology relating to pressure, hoses, taps, connectors, and lances.

An update to all of the above about connections and hoses etc. My very kind next door neighbour has lent me their hose and connections so that I can see if it is the hose/connections or the pressure washer itself at fault. (Or, yes, possibly even the hoperator of the equipment.)

I have found that some connectors are more reliable then others. Quality counts.
I use the yellow Hozelock system and it has been trouble free for about 2 decades.

Yes, I agree Night Train. Very nearly all my hose connectors, spray nozzles, bits to join two hoses, and the hose and holder are all Hozelock. The exception to this is the connector to the tap.
Is the tap connector the longer one on the left of the three in the packet. All the bits for hoses are kept in a box (labelled) but it is not always easy to know which bit does what.
