*relief*

It's WCMnr's 21st birthday tomorrow. Mr WC & I have bought him a rather nice watch as his present. WCMnr knows what he's getting - he chose the one he wanted, we purchased online, and saved oodles of dosh on the purchase. It should have been here yesterday as it was apparently, posted off on Friday, Special Delivery, to be here by 1pm yesterday. It finally arrived this morning. Despite having made loads of checks on the Royal Mail's 'track & trace' facility, the package has not once registered on it. So despite paying for a 'track & trace' & special delivery, it matters not that the extra money paid for such to Royal Mail, as the Royal Mail didn't deliver when supposed to. Thankfully we have managed to receive it before WCMnr's birthday but it's been a close run thing. I have not been impressed with the Royal Mail on this occasion. Our poor local postie was getting quite worried, as he was chasing up yesterday back at the local post office and could get no positive result. Our postie is good, it's just the darned Royal Mail system which isn't.

You've got your post already??

We have a rota of postmen. One of them is very good, and has worked out what sort of hours we work. If he has a parcel for us that won't go through the letterbox, he will come specially to our house early before we leave for the day.

Otherwise, postmen get to us when they get to us. That's usually about three o'clock in the afternoon. Remarkable, given that the post office/sorting office is about a quarter of a mile away.

Anyway, it's gloomy and drizzly here too and tea would help alleviate the gloom...

Our postal service is *excellent* The mail is always here early morning. It's rarely after nine when it arrives. A few years ago we had a dodgy period where our mail was being delivered to other properties in the village and we were getting mail for others, but a swift word with the local manager and it was sorted. It seems they had a problem postie who was, err.... sorted. We weren't the only folk to complain, quite a few did. But for the most part, every one of our local posties, in this village & the previous one we lived in has been *excellent*. That's the thing when you're in a village, the postie gets to know the folk on his/her round and the result is excellent service IME

Drizzly here as well so I've fixed myself a cuppa to warm up. A colleague couldn't believe I'd cycled in, but I've cycled in much worse:wacko:.

I knew we inhabited a different sort of reality round here. I posted a letter on Thursday last week, and received a reply on Saturday.

Postman - "my" postman that is, not the one on here, and he is not my Postman ... I digress... told me last week how far he walks on his round. It is a very very long way!!!!

Tea? and Ginger bread, which bit of the gingerbread man should I eat first?:sad:
