I'm looking forward to a good-old mooch about fabric shops

As a toddler I once spent a morning following my Mum round fabric shops, probably looking for soft furnishing fabric. This is not now, and never has been, my favourite way of passing time, and to placate me, Mum continually promised that on the way to the bus home we'd pass the restaurant with the fish tank in the window, and look at the fish.

When we got there, the tank was being cleaned and there were no fish.

Apparently, I went so rigid screaming with fury, she couldn't bend me to get me in the pushchair, and had to carry me under one arm to the bus. She says I only ever really had the one tantrum, but by god, it was a good one.

While looking for a pattern for a fleece jacket, I found a pattern for these.

The gentleman on the right does look rather smart, does he not? If I knew how to delete the man on the left, I would put this picture in "Regency Trousers". Or is he Edwardian?

 I can remember when costumes meant "suits" so I looked in Jackets, and suits, and then in costumes, which is, these days, historical. I cannot see the gentleman's torical tho', can you?

Could be an ideal cover-up if your lycra is very wet, and you have removed it.

Spend time in fabric shops?

Not me.

I just haberdash in and haberdash out.

Whats gives with 'Little Bo Clause' on the left there?

I seem to remember that St Nicholas was traditionally depicted in green until Coca Cola rebranded him...

Just Googled this dunno if it's true...

Early images of Father Christmas show him in a variety of coloured outfits. One early incarnation, dating from 1809, sees him in green.
But, contrary to legend, red and white became his familiar dress long before Coca-Cola used the image in an advert. A familiar version of Father Christmas was used on the cover of Harper's Weekly in 1863 but Coca Cola did not use his image until 1931.

Very windy down here in the land of the Piskie too. Walking to work at he moment while rebuilding my bike - wish I'd stripped it down before the caustic soda episode as I'm having to do it now anyway to clean up!

We're having some nice cakes in today at a £1 a slice for Mr Pudsy's appeal.
