We have no snow, but need thawing out after trundling round the lanes looking for kindling. Am going to have a hot chocolate I think

Great news today, the mangled mess that was my moving from benefits to working life is almost untangled!
*Crosses fingers, doesn't tempt fate and asks if Milo has any rabbit's feet going spare.*
My benefits have been reinstated in a top up suppliment to my wages and housing benefit has been reinstated today, they are going to back date my payments which clears nearly £500 of rent that the council were getting very heavy about
I rang my housing officer to give her the good news and all she could do was to keep reinforcing that I was still responsible for the debt.
'No, my account will be in the black by this time next week.'
'You are still responsible for the outstanding rent which, I have to remind you is becoming a lot of money.'
'Yes I understand, but Housing Benefit will be paying you the money by next Friday.'
'Just ring us on Tuesday to tell us how this is progressing, thank you.'
WTF?
My payments go straight to them, I only get confirmation of my rent being paid in my rent statement. I've kept them up to date on my position every week for the last four weeks as they ask and I'm still treated like poo?
Can I have some lovely tea please?
