About this time last night I was on a rather fragrant train out of London. A guy had got on, eaten the worlds largest and smelliest kebabxx( in a noisy, messy and expansive style:angry:, then asked the poor sod on the other side of the table if he'd wake him up at Stevenage.
They both went to sleep.
We arrived at Stevenage.
I got my brommie, tip-toed past Snoring Kebab Bloke, and got off as quietly as I could.
Sadly, SKB woke up, and just got off the train before it sped off.
I cursed:angry:. Sometimes I'm not very nice.
Tea?

Good lord, has no one wanted tea all day!

I've had several cups (and a <whisper> latte).

And a visit to the quilt museum, where I ended up demonstrating to a complete stranger how to card wool (something I've done myself about twice). And saw a lady spinning silk, my! that's a fine thread.

Anyway, Mum is now decanted back onto the bus, and I'm thinking about dinner, although not just yet, as we had scones with our afternoon cuppa.

Tea, anyone?
Just got in from walking the dog, so I have a pot on the go.
No scones, but I have some Welsh cakes. They're quite close to being scones, but a bit trickier to slice, since they're about 1/4 inch tall...

Good morning all Bikepete and I got up early this morning. I'm having a final play on the internet before getting down to learning 20 plants by the botanical names for tomorrows test.

Its still taking me two days to do it. Anyone got any easier ways of learning things/ Currently I'm writing down everything ten times family, genus, species, verity and its taking me forever. I'm also trying the saying the names out loud method however they are not going in.

Anyway hope everyone enjoys their day. Kettles on by the way.

I have a big problem with my short term memory, I would really love to be able to pin pictures up around the house but with 20 a week to do it just wont work.

I feel I'm constantly banging my head against a brick wall trying to get the family name genus and species correct all the time.

I write them out over and over again but find when I go back to the beginig they just don't stick and have to look at the names again.

I just don't know what to do, I can't spend all my time doing this because I have other assignments to do as well.

I am trying and it seems to get harder all the time. Grr

Could you try singing them? I know, it sounds daft, but I find that latin names often have a sort of rythym to them, having so many syllables. Maybe try and pair up any that sort of rhyme, or have the same number of syllables, and make up a jingly tune...?

Well, I decided against a 'proper' ride today. Feeling a bit stiff, looked like it was cold out (wind yesterday was icy!), needed to get some groceries and do some laundry. So I went down and got on the hack, thinking I might go to Sainsbury via the riverside (which is a complete detour, as it's 500 yards from the flat...)

Anyway, 11 miles later, via the riverside, the racecourse, Naburn and the Designer Outlet (no cheap craghoppers though), I got to Sainsburys. It was nice out, and all the nicer I think for the fact that I wasn't aiming at anything, just pootling as far as I fancied.

Still have that laundry to do this afternoon.... Lunch first though, and tea...
