Welcome back Arch! Was it very cold? It seems freezing here today and not the best weather for camping.

My mechanical skills are improving at a snails pace. I've just figured out how to put on a new set of bars and move the shifters over:smile:. The fun will come when I try to tape them...

I quite like taping. It's theraputic. Remember, try it a couple of times before you take the backing off the sticky bit, to get it just right.

It was a bit cold, yes. I wore quite a lot of stuff in my sleeping bag, and the first night took a while to get to sleep, and woke up everyso often, cold. After that, I got used to it. It was a bit damp (not in my tent, but outside). Of course, I just get used to sleeping in a tent, and we come home... But I think I could hack it for a long tour - anyway, you're more tired after a day in the saddle.

And I christened the Trangia to make tea! (once I'd bought some matches, I still need to practise with the firesteel, couldn't get it to light the meths - might have been because the meths was cold. The next two mornings, I took my meths bottle into the sleeping bag with me for half an hour first). So now I have to actually cook on it.

I haven't been camping for ages.

You are a true frontierswoman Arch.
Sleeping with a bottle of meths tho?;)

I made some flapjacks this afternoon. They are a bit crummy very crumbley, so you will need a plate.

Ingredients include ground almonds, and coconut with jumbo organic oats, maple syrup, dark brown sugar. I kept Cathryn's recipe for flapjacks, and it did say not to overcook them. Perhaps I did not squash them enough.

Oooh luverly flappy jacks Speicher  Can I have another?

Arch - I've been to Shobden Airfield cafe once or twice on Audaxes. I can recommend it too. And the pedalling around those parts is excellent. Hopefully I'll find an excuse to get that way again this year

Been fettling my gears today. Problems with my triple and also slipping sprockets at the rear. Test ride tomorrow

Also I've been chasing up the Planners regarding mistakes they've made in granting planning permission to my neighbour. We shall see

Ah good. We'd been recommended it by the couple camping opposite. We were halfway through our full englishes when they rolled up for theirs!

By-eck... it's chilly outside this morning. Good job I put frost protection on the tender green things last night. Whipped it all off this morning and everything is fine. Hurrah!

Now, who's for a brew?

It looks quite sunny here today. Showers forecast for later though:sad:.

Yeh, right, well they never arrived. It looked a bit black after lunch so I put my heavy jacket on, and then roasted all afternoon...

I'm extending my commute bit by bit, and done 10 miles today, instead of 3. Had to go round the block once to finally clock it up though!

Tea?

Yes please, Here's my big mug

Not bad here today. The showers were hardly worthy of the name - small dark clouds and about 6 drops of rain. Got the grass cut in the dry and 52 miles in the dry too. Mrs 26x25 baked a luverly cake which is rapidly disappearing. Why do cakes do that? My bike fettling seems to have paid off with my gears working properly on the ride. Pity about the legs

<Stumbles in>. Just back from yet another leaving do. Got taken out for dinner by a couple of friends and I'm feeling slightly tipsy after only a couple of glasses of wine.
