Well, everything held up OK, so I think I can consider meself pretty well mended.
The fields were gently steaming after the rain earlier on, so sunset was like riding through a watercolour painting.
Assuming anyone had ever bothered to paint Codicote and the flight path to Luton Airport, that is...

I believe Turner was going to have a bash at it once, but then his Mum called him in for tea.

Ningles!!

Waffles - I'm just getting a brew on the go, so I'll put a mug on the train. It'll arrive in about an hour-and-a-bit at Kings Lynn...
I really fancy some crispy duck now.

Any tea on the go?

I need something to warm me up, the atmosphere in the office is a little bit frosty.

Oh, have you been telling those jokes in front of the vicar again?

No, I had to tell two people that they were "At Risk" [sup]1[/sup] of redundancy yesterday.

[sup]1[/sup] Weasel words the company uses so they don't get taken to Tribunal. They are being made redundant, and nothing is going to change that now. No matter, we'll drag it out a bit with a Consultation that will come to the same conclusion because the board have already made up their minds.

In a previous century, I was working at a medium sized company, and because of computerising the work, and other factors, there were three or four rounds of redundancies over about three years. Everyone sort of breathed a sigh of relief when the Personnel Manager declared there would be no more redundancies.

It was not funny at the time, but looking back now it is slightly ironic, that the next person to be made redundant was the Personnel Manager. (He was a bit of a twerp, btw.)

In a similar vein, I have worked at a company where our supervisor took great delight in repeatedly saying we were overstaffed and our department could manage with 2 fewer people.
Turned out we could manage without him quite nicely, thanks!!

Oh, and most flavours, Speicher. Tyrells (sp?) salted are rather good.
Had some Tyrells Pork and Bramley on the WNRttP last night.

Stop it - the Tyrells that is. I've put away* 2 large bags last two evenings.

* "put away" does not imply tidying up

On the redundancy front - it's now just over a year since I was made redundant. Can't say I miss it really (going to work that is).

Hurrah! WW night: lost 6.5lbs this week. Considering that last week I put on five for no apparent reason, this is good. The overall long term weight is a steady loss at a healthy rate, which is fine.
