In order to save calories, as it were, I make the Hot Choc with mostly boiling water, and add a smidgeon of semi-skilled skimmed milk. Agreed, it lacks a certain je ne sais quoi, but needs must. Next winter, normal service regarding aforesaid Hot Choc will be resumed.

I know how good everyone is at Maffs, so I will not say quite how long it will take me to loose y pounds at z rate.

Just made my hot choccy,semi-skimmed for me,no water.
Since re-starting my diet at the start of October I have put ON 2 lbs

I don't know if you'll find it in your local shop or supermarket, but I use 1% fat milk when I can get it (Sainsburys do it, Waitrose don't). Semi Skimmed is 2%. So it's half the fat of semi, but pretty much the same richness in the mouth, unlike skimmed which is really watery.

It's a tiny difference, but I think every little tactic you can slip in, almost without noticing, helps. Like when I make spag bol now, I fry the mince, and then drain off nearly all the fat that comes out - that's another spoonful of fat I've avoided, with no difference to the flavour...

We always made hot choc with hot water and added milk when I was a kid - I think in pre-microwave days, it was much easier than boiling up milk in a pan.

I would be the first person to reject any faddy diets, but the Weight Watchers ideas seem to be good ones. I hate counting points etc, but with this system it is fairly easy. I am hoping to steadily loose about two pounds a week for...... um ...

I have not bought any of their branded foods with the exception of the nutty bar, which is like a Tracker bar. Their diet suggestion is not based on you buying their food, rather on eating sensibly on normal foods. Yes you can have doughnuts, well occasionnally, not every day. ;)

Unfortunately the meeting I attended last Monday is discontinued until the New Year. I will be able to attend one on Thursday mornings or Wednesday evening as I choose. I intend sticking with it for at least two months to see how it goes.

Thanks Arch, I might try that. Tho' I get milk delivered to my doorstep in those see-through bottles. I think it the orange foil top that is 1% fat. I have skimmed milk in Tea and porridge, semi-skimmed in C*ffee, and custard etc.

Sounds very sensible, good luck with it.

I took a rather more off the wall line, and got a job doing manual labour! I can eat a lot at lunchtime, but I think I need to watch, my loss has slowed and is threatening to reverse now that I'm not adding miles to my commute (so hard to make yourself do that when it's dark going home).

I was just watching the Strictly result show now, and Duffy was singing. There was a big lit up DUFFY sign in the background, but when they cut to the low down camera angle, the dancers and Duffy obscured bits of the letters, and it looked like it said DUREX.

Name drop time.
I have met Duffy.. in Nice airport a couple of years back, whilst waiting for our luggage. She was very sweet and happy to talk. Oh yes, she is tiny.

The Sainsburys 1% milk has an orange lid, so that might be it. (although in other places, it's purple, so that might not be it)....

I find it no different to semi skimmed, on cereal and so on, where skimmed would be a bit thin.

Is no one drinking tea today!?!

No collection today, so we did some clearing up at the compound and went to the tip, then washed some boxes, and then delivered some leaflets in town. And drank tea. And nattered with Jonny our casual worker, who is just back from 3 months in Japan.

Some of us have been far too busy at work. I am indulging in some leafy goodness now
And I have Ceasar Salad for dinner. With lots of olives, and emmental cheese.
