That sounds like the same setup they use on 6 speed Bromptons. Back in the day, Cyclo (IIRC) sold a 6-speed conversion kit for hub gears - 2 sprockets and a rear mech. Just takes a while to get used to the shift pattern.
I've seen them on ebay, they fetch around £60 so I made my own, not difficult really.

I'm currently in Hebden Bridge with Granville, the cycling here is scary. So many close passes on bends, solid white lines and width restrictions!

Granville is currently locker up outside Tribal's carpark while I've been munching on a pork and black pudding pie with a mince pie for pudding. There is a loud and out of tune Spanish busker here who has just been told to clear off! :-D

<dejectedly, Night Train rolls up his poncho, pockets his castanets, and moves on....>

Is there a phrase more full of excitement and trepidation than NT saying ...'so I made my own...' ;)

The busker threw his dummy out the cot and had a tantrum. Chucked his guitar across the square and shouted at everyone about being chucked out the country for just playing a bit of music.

Granville is now parked up at Murt's garage while I wait for my car service.

Ole!

It's the latino temperament, you know.

Just did a bit of Granville fettling.
The ride earlier felt a bit unstable. I put it downt to my lack of balance, the traffic and the greasy roads.
Turns out Granville's rear hub was loose, again. Just had the wheel off and hub open to check and retighten everything. I'm sure there must be something missing inside, a lock ring maybe, as the hub loosens quite often.

Have a look online and see if there's an exploded diagram of the hub you can check against. I was in Bike Rescue yesterday and they have some exploded diagrams of Sturmey hubs up on the wall, decorative I think, rather than for sale. Interesting to look at, and artistic in a utilitarian sort of way.

Actually, if you google Sturmey Archer exploded diagrams, there are lots, although the resolution varies.

I have an image though, of you sitting on the floor of the garage with your hub in bits, while the 'grownups' service your car!

'tis indeed scary.

Might have been dreaming but I'm sure I saw the :sun: earlier, and I just found a pink wafer biskit hiding behind the Mr Sheen, wonder whose that could be?

Tea?

Potsy I have now looked behind the Mr Sheen and you can rest assured that it is not there now!

Oh good, some of us are trying to keep the place tidy

Just done a bit of hoovering, fed the cats, put the dishes in to soak and am thinking about mopping the kitchen floor, need a sit down now, not used to it.
Be glad to get to work for a rest

Now you've mentioned it, you know you're gonna have to do an Oxbridge-style photo on Granville, just for us...
What's that when it's at home? I can see what I can do when I know what it is.

It is a giant sundial.

Granville at Murt's garage where I fettled him (Granville, not Murt's).

He runs a lot better now the hub is tighter.
The car is also better for the service and has started on the winter tyres in preperation. Need a new aircon compressor though.
