Possibly so. I once had hours of fun and games working out an answer to the question :-
Will a 6-speed indexed Shimano lever work a Huret rear mech across a 5 speed freewheel?
The answer, by the way, was No. Well, not unless you turn the indexing off.

NT, I really hate to sound all dull and practical and stuff, but you do know that twist-grip shifters for hub-gears are available, don't you? I know they cost, but it might save a few marbles and endless hours of buggering about...

Yes, at the weekend I lost the bidding on a twist grip on ebay. I had ignored the two used examples that sold for 99p and £1.20 and bid on the new one that then went for more then my lowly highest bid.
I was going for these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200671969115?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649 to match the ones on Granville. I would cover them in something akin to black foam to disguse them.

Bear in mind, though, that ten years ago the handle broke on the toilet cystern. Instead of buying one from B&Q, like any sane person would, I made one from a lump of mahogany. It is still there and functional.
I also got some doors for the house that had locks but no keys so I bought some blanks from the locksmith and cut my own.

Making stuff is fun!

I'm still torn between Marathon and Marathon Plus.
I know the M+ are heavy, but I like the sound of near-impregnability.
The last time I got the back wheel off it turned into a two-hour swearfest. The dog learned some interesting new words.

I have recently tried reparing on the beaters on my hand-held mixer. It is only about 25 years old, they do not make things to last do they? The shaped thing on the end, that is the bit that goes in the cake mix, has come loose from the stem of the beater. Hot water was employed to soften the metal joiny bit a tad. I will let you know if this is succesful.

I finally got around to watching that Brompton Video properly. I shall be keeping Tiddles' wheels firmly on the ground when riding.

I have been very bad and eaten a whole packet of Haribo Starmix.
