Evenings!!!

Just finished reading 'All quiet on the western front'. Very good, but a bit difficult at times.
As an aside, I don't know why I read stuff when I know :-
a) How it's likely to end
b) That it's not going to be a happy ending.

I made the mistake of reading Anne Franks diary once.
I almost started bawling when she wrote about the liberation of France, and how they'd be into the Netherlands next and she'd be free and live happily ever after.
Because I knew that she didn't.
Hang on, got something in my eye...

AQotWF is a tough book to read but well worth it, I think. However, I have a problem with Anne Frank in that, while in no way intending any disrespect to what the family went through and how the diary's discovery has opened so many people's eyes as to what happened and what Jewish families went through, but ... I just want to slap the girl. Can't stand her. I first read it when I was about ten or eleven and it's the same every time. I wait a few years and try again. Nope, still want to slap her.

*sigh*

On another note, though not entirely OT as it still concerns things I don't like, some of you might be interested in this offer at Lidl...

Tea?

I hasten to add that I have no intention, currently, of trying to eat 60 of anything in one hour. I leave that sort of expertise to TheDoctor and Potsy.

60 ??? Possibley Huntley and Palmers Custard Creams, but I would still take a week to do so.

those pink wafer thingies, but it takes five of those to equal a real biscuit.

It would, I hazard a guess take me two weeks to eat 60 mince pies. (Or mice pies as we call them in Hundred Acre Wood.)

60 Haribo jelly babies would be easy.
60ml of Scotch wouldn't be too difficult either.
60" of mini swiss rolls is a possible, laid end to end not side by side.

I'm sure Arch could manage 60' of spagetti.

NT - the options are a yard of something or 60 of something. (There being was 60 jaffas in TD's yard).

Not sure how many inches there are in a yard in your part of the world, but round here it is 36 inches.

Yes, I know  you are going to tell me there are at least 160,000 inches in your yard. ;)

60 jaffa cakes? I could get through them in an hour if I was feeling greedy.
And if I had a pack of Rennies available...
Slowcoach
An hour? Is that with a 30 minute nap inbetween?

I have eaten approximately 30 custard creams since yesterday, going well this pre-Christmas diet

In better news, just been to order my new bike :hyper:

I reckon one JCpm is a reasonable rate of consumption.
In fact, I'd probably catch consumption shortly afterwards...

Ooh!!! My new Marathon tyres for Teh Brommie have just arrived!!! :hyper:

I am able to confirm that a square foot of Battenberg takes quite some eating.
It will have two greedy people bouncing about like ADHD toddlers after a gallon of Red Bull :hyper:
