Oh that made me grin for a different reason than you think.....

Back to GSD,'s.
Our current dog came from a kennel in Germany where he had been for 5 months.
He was a pup and a bit excitable and seemingly deaf to all our commands.

One evening, shortly after getting him, we were watching TV and a comedian came on and during his set, started shouting in German.
The dog leapt up and stared at the TV intently before barking!
We were in fits....we rewound it and he did it again!

He does understand English now

I didn't know he had a son, maybe his wife did a runner with the milkman?
Milkman is still there!

My experience of cats is that they are clean animals if provided with facilities. The last occupant of your home must have been a right minger - even the cat probably thought so. xx(
Any cats that I have had in the past (I didn't actually own a cat, I've just had a few move in, over the years) have been fastidiously clean. Our swap partner has 3 cats, indoor ones despite having a vast garden and not living on a busy road, and 2 covered litter trays which he doesn't muck out nearly often enough. I rather feel for his cats. They poo'd all over the place as their litter trays were so full and filthy. Our swap partner was exceedingly mingy. Even the council workmen think so.
We had a short natter with one of our new neighbours today and they were telling us how badly the bin area smelt in the warm weather. They complained to our swap partner and to the council. Our wheelie bin absolutely stinks to high heaven. The bin men come for that one tomorrow, when they have been I will scrub the bin out. I did the same with the recycle bin last Monday.
We spoke to our old neighbour, the chap who moved in after mrs miseryguts moved out, and he is unhappy with the smell from his new neighbour already and it's only been a week.

We are having a nice sit down now. The front bedroom has been emptied today, scrubbed down, painted, hoovered, carpeted, curtained and turned into a bedroom rather than the place where the boxes have been living for a week. We are really chuffed. Hubster went carpet buying after doing a dump run. He came back with this lovely 13' x 13' kingfisher blue proper carpet from the remnant shop.
The back bedroom, where we have been sleeping, now has boxes in which I shall unpack tomorrow now that I have a chest of drawers and a wardrobe again. This time next week I will have decorated the whole flat and the cat smell will have gone (fingers crossed). I think that sorting the smell and the horrible paint colours in here will be worth it in the end ^_^

Yes, but I'm biased
No biased at all. Your dog is heartbreakingly lovely.
