Evening all.
We are shattered and have forgone the tea and found some wine.
We got the last few bits and bobs from our old flat and said to our swap partner (Ian) that we were planning on doing the dump run of the wet, rotting, mouldy pile of stuff that he's left in the garden, in around an hour so we'd see him then. He has ignored all texts and naturally, hasn't turned up. I'll ring the council tomorrow as when we went to move a bit of carpet a rat shot out and the JRT grabbed it and killed it. When we both grabbed the same bit of carpet and dragged it nearer the stinky dump pile, several rats headed for the fence. We have 2 Jack Russells and a Greyhound so we now have somewhere in the region of a dozen very dead rats.
We dumped Ian's sofas this morning, 2 of. One bed base, one matress, a load of cat stropping tables and climbing things, 2 microwave ovens and some old bits of carpet. That was the front garden sorted out then.
Billy the Greyhound 'found' some semi buried metal fence mesh today. He now has steri-strips and a rather large dressing, anti-biotics. A joyous day all around. Our new housing officer is definitely getting a call in the morning. We thought that we had got all the wood with nails in, bits of old fence and whatnot but this mesh stuff was hidden in some long grass and we feel like bad parents now. We have spent 2 hours out there and there is nothing sharp out there now. We have found 5 tennis balls, 2 footballs and some more rats (now dead).
Off to bed in half an hour or so. Bed has legs on and everything tonight
