The plumber has been and has cleared the blockage by lifting the man hole cover outside and poking about with rods and stuff. He says that the toilet pan is knackered and solid with limescale and some sort of plaster like stuff. We suggested that it might have been cat litter. I showed him the pictures on my phone of the state of the shower room when we moved in. Plumber coming back with new toilet and cistern tomorrow afternoon. We still have nothing to go on as he has suggested that we use the toilet for No. 1s only until it's done. He suggested to us that the previous tenant was disgusting. We have agreed. None of us can understand the reason that the previous tenant painted the living room khaki after agreeing to exchange. It was a grotty cream colour when we viewed.
