Impersonating a mod, again!
I was the one having the threats made against me, in a call that was recorded, and they didn't like the fact that I'd been using a camera in public.I reckon some officers get a bit carried away by the power that they have at their disposal, rather than using a bit more common sense. I don't know you Mr C, but if the story is how you say and someone starts getting aggressive and making threats etc. why should they suddenly turn their attention to you when its sounds like you haven't done anything wrong................apart from possess an extremely old mobile phone. Were you waving it around threatening people?
Here's an annoying run in I had with some West Mercia traffic officers a couple of years ago. As you know I go to work at stupid o'clock in the morning, but I am not breaking the law going about my lawful business.
An ANPR equipped car passes me going the other way, I am in a road legal car, sticking to the speed limit (I don't speed at silly early times). A couple of minutes later it has turned round and follows me for a couple of miles (at correct speed limit). Just as I am about to cross into West Midlands border they pull me over.
No problem I haven't done anything wrong, I am wearing my uniform got my photo id card, and permit to drive trains photo id card also.
They get me in their and car ask usual questions, name, address etc. Don't forget nowadays car ownership, mot etc are all electronically linked.
I answer everything, I am not bothered because I haven't done anything wrong, but on the console there is a small tv screen with a picture of a black car saying Audi, with a registration and the word 'HIT'. My car is not an Audi by the way!!
He then says the system says you haven't got insurance, and decides to give me a note to produce insurance documents at police station. I know I have got insurance, so I am not that bothered just p****d off that they are messing me about.
I got to work and one of our guards is a retired West Mids officer and I was telling him the story, to which he said if you did not have insurance they would not let you continue as if you had an accident and injured someone then they would also be in it for allowing you to continue without insurance.
He reckoned they just did that so at the end of the shift it would show they had been active during their patrol and it would keep their superiors off their backs.
If this behaviour was correct all they have done is annoyed someone that is law abiding and was going about his lawful business legally.
It's hardly surprising that people don't always trust them.![]()

Spent about 10-15 minutes in the back of a locked police car that on medical grounds could get them into trouble. Epilepsy means they shouldn't have done so once it was made known to them, so I think they were a wee bit put out.
On the plus side the idiot making the call & threats is now without a working phone.
Oh don't get me started about using cameras in public places!I was the one having the threats made against me, in a call that was recorded, and they didn't like the fact that I'd been using a camera in public.

Caught him driving whilst using a mobile phone, going the wrong way on a short one way section. Flash gave it away.A question? what had you photographed that got the guy so irate?
Tried telling them that I'd broke no law, but fell on deaf ears.Oh don't get me started about using cameras in public places!
It is NOT against the law and it's not even against the law to take photos of an officer going about his duties.
Police in the UK have no powers to stop you taking photos in a public place, but there are other laws you could be arrested and imprisoned for, such as the Official Secrets Act. An officer may wish to search you in connection with the ‘stop’, but they can only do this if they suspect you’re carrying drugs, weapons, stolen property or items that could be used to commit a crime, an act of terrorism or cause criminal damage.
Searches carried out under Section 44 of the Terrorism Act 2000 have been banned for individuals, but an officer can still stop and search you if they have a ‘reasonable suspicion’ that you’re a terrorist, under Section 43.

@172traindriver, not waving the phone about. You've seen a picture of it.
Known to the town centre police due to having worked there and attending their meetings.

Not even interested in seeing it.Pity the police didn't use the photo and give him the appropriate punishment for the crime

And the ones who do, stand out & make it the view that they're all the same.Unfortunately the police seem to abuse the powers vested in them on occasions
Yep, I'm home with a cup of tea@the_mikey, you there yet?
