I am not sure exactly of your meaning, about the general situation i suppose.

Try my best & sorry if it becomes waffle.

There are a few Holier than thou types (not many) & a few - I know better than you, you're wrong - types too (again not too many) & some of these are one & the same people.

You won't find them in the "Is this a pretty flower thread" but in any thread created where people will have polar opposite opinions (which they appear to always jump in on).

Threads like those created by myself & @Ansome the other day, stuff where a little thinking is required.

Now, my thread was an innocently created one where i just canvassed the opinion of forum members & accepted the argument of others being different to mine (& many more disagreed than agreed with my view) fine & dandy.

I had some intelligent arguments against my view put forward & this was the kind of thing i was seeking.

One poster I had previous with posted a fairly scathing anti post, more anti SC than anti the thread.

This person was/is on my ignore list, but i clicked on 'show ignored content' as i was intrigued.

Being a little bit volatile (i have to admit a personal failing here) i responded with a bit of anger (no swearing) but quickly deleted my post (it's still there though as someone quoted it).
I didn't delete it because of what it was, just that somehow it wasn't attached to the persons quote.

When i say that i can be a little bit volatile, by that i mean that sometimes my fuse can be short (this is better) & sometimes can be long (Very Bad) because on it's longer days, there can be a much bigger bang at the end.

Compare that with the demeanour of our friend @solitaire for instance who seems much more placid & laid back, which incidentally i would more like to be.

Unfortunately my perspective of the world & humanity is tainted more by the type of people i deal with & my tolerance of certain types, so i have a much more cynical viewpoint.

My problem is my low idiot/clown/nobber threshold, which is most prevalent on the forum when a Troll type tries to take me on or i see a troll attack against a perfectly reasonable person.
Despite my will to ignore, i occasionally bite, which i suppose is a victory then to the Troll.

Lets take @Ansome thread which attracted a fair few of these throbbers.
It wasn't his fault, i read his OP & it wasn't an invite to riot & was a very valid question posed.
The problem was there that a certain thread faction rounded up, with one probably PM'ing another & so on because they thought 'their thread' was being questioned.

There are a couple of males (maybe 3) who do the rounds in bikes & bike buying etc who are of the your wrong i am right pedant persuasion.

The others have very little to do with bikes or gear or advice & stick to Cafe threads or debating, social, political.

So what is my point ?

Well, just that, if you suspect a Troll may be trying to provoke you into a response, or a thread appears to be going bad, click ignore & jump out of the fire.

Cheers @SteCenturion

I have got you regarding the type of character you describe. I know where you are coming from now, and have had a couple of run ins with nobbers etc on some posts in the past, not on here I hasten to add, where the posts I make are in good jest (hope others on here understand ) with regulars on here e.g Bone Bag, Mrs D, Bobster, you and others etc.
A prime example was someone moaning about railway cancellations or something regarding the running of trains on the infrastructure. Whilst I don't know everything about the system, I would have a decent idea about certain aspects. You try to enlighten people as to why something may have occurred particularly the safety aspects governing the running and as you say they seem intent on an argument and always appear to know better even though they are not employed in the industry.
If someone from the industry posted on here I could tell if the had knowledge on the subject or not.
There have been things of a technical nature with bikes with a preference for particular manufacturers components for example and as you say nobbers try to pick an argument. I will tell them you are free to make your own choice and are allowed your opinion rather than rise to the argument.
I do wonder with some of these people if they actually even ever ride bikes. I suppose forums attract opinionated know it alls with nothing better to do, who need to get themselves a life :laugh:

There's at least two who don't ride bikes on here. One enjoys knocking those who do what he can't.
