Mine's one of those new style budget ones. I pay £120 for a year, but when I came to renew this time they had an offer of £150 for two years.

What would you use it for?

Mine's got plenty of cardio machines and classes, but all I ever use is the free weights area.
I quite like the classes, pilates and aerobics are fun. I used to do a bodymax until I broke my wrist. I'd like to do them again as they are such fun. There is a pool there too and after a hard day a swim, a nice sauna and then a relax in the jacuzzi cannot be beaten.
Free weights are fun. I don't have the self discipline to work out at home.

Believe it or not, but before I smashed my wrist up, I was pretty fit and a bit thinner. Before I tore my achilles I was really fit and rather slender. I'd like to shift a couple of stone and could do with a bit of gym motivation. Hubster is not that interested but I can work out alone. I have good music on my iPod.

I used to like watching the spin class on a Saturday morning when the bikes were next to the weights area.

Because you're so tall you don't look big, you can carry a bit of weight and easily still look in proportion.

Can you not discipline yourself to do some sit ups and press ups at home, you've got the bike for aerobics?

I just got up to get ready for a bike ride, and even though it's only just past 6am, it's already 25°C. It will reach 35 today, but I'll be home from Mt Dandenong at or before lunch time.
Well, it's 12pm and 30°, and I'm back from the Mt Dandenong ride: 78.5km and 1400m climbing. (that would be 48.75mls and 4600ft)
Now to go and do a bit of grocery shopping, which is an exercise session in itself, given that the round trip is a very hilly 4km of walking.

Definitely not feeling in proportion at the moment, although my doc thinks weight and height is fine (not that I can do much about the height bit) Her exact words were "your weight is a little over but your height is just fine". She suggested that I drink less alcohol and consider my smoking habit. Not sure who's notes she was looking at. I don't smoke or drink. It might just be advise that she doles out to every patient who comes through the door though.

I could discipline myself but sit ups are tricky at home as the only room with enough space to do them, without braining myself on something, is the living room and the dogs like to help.
I am planning to get a little set of free weights, just the light ones (1,2 & 3 kg ones), then I can do squats with weights, upper body exercises and whatnot.
I can't do press ups as I can't bend my wrist enough to put my hands down on the floor. It's why I don't do yoga any more, a one armed Salute to the Sun is a wobble and a fall over to the Sun.
I was thinking 3 months of gym membership then it'll be warmer weather again and more riding can occur. Clocks change at the end of next month so it's only 7 weeks away :wahhey: longer evenings to play with.
I am definitely going to bed now. I stayed up to watch Memphis Belle. It wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Why was that bloke reciting Yeats and copping on that he wrote it? I know that they landed safely as I saw the documentary but I did give up before the end.

Because he was into reading Yates work, and it was "Danny Boy" being sung that made him realise that it wasn't his work, but that of Yates.
