No, never heard of 'em Blue.

I am a bit of a Shop Steward/Unionist type though.

I like to point out management failings due to the fact they take pleasure in attacking us & refuse to defend our position, not all the time, but often enough for resentment to breed.

The only concern our lot have is productivity & they have little regard for the Health & Safety of a certain section of staff.



Some people seem to be 'protected' & can do no wrong even when doing wrong.

Office staff have 'very adaptable rules' which are altered to suit at any given time.

In my work enviroment there is a deeply cultured mistrust between one faction & another.

I shall say ney more aboot it.

Might know one or two of those "protected" people. Moved on/promoted when things went wrong.

I know where you're at. During my varied career I also spent time as a Union rep, serving at NEC level and leading the longest strike in my Unions' NI history. I was once told that I had MILITANT written across my personnel file - and I deserved the title as I never let the beggars away with anything!

That happens in many walks of life, eh! I took the MIOSH qualification when working in accident investigation to assist me in finding H&S problems and offering suitable solutions. The qualification was an interesting one as it took me into subjects like Behavioural Science that I hadn't previously studied.

Crowd flow wasn't on the syllabus - more individual and group behaviour in an industrial/training environment, although some aspects were more general. It was an interesting subject and I learned a few things that I was able to put to good use when being assessed during my Teaching Certificate year and then use again later in my career as a teacher.

Just a recent incident, this side o'Pennines, led to a driver being "told off" by the person who'd issued what was being worn.
Nearly a walkout. Same company over that side

Since de-regulation of public transport under the Thatcher regime Council owned services were split & sold off.

Greater Manchester has maybe 40+ different bus companies, 2 dozen I could name off top of my head & the rest are very small mainly only running school services.

There are 3 large multi-national/ International companies.

A few of these companies sail very close to the wind regards safety & the law & a few who blatantly disregard it with impunity.

I do my best not to use public transport, well buses really when off work, resorting to them only if I know I am drinking alcohol.

Grumbly, but had an easy shift & now off for the weekend

Just had the car washed by a small team of folk on the way home, not much opportunity to do it myself
