Man in critical condition after Mixenden stabbing

A 37-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after being stabbed in Mixenden.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident in which the man is believed to have been stabbed in the eye.

A 45-year-old man has been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon following the incident on Stanningley Road at around 9pm on Saturday.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team via on 101 quoting crime reference number on 13150072766. Information can also be given, anonymously and in confidence, through Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Just having a look on google map at Stanningley Road, the row of shops that are mostly closed look grim

They've been empty for years, all bar one. The landlord refuses to do anything with it, and the council don't want to clear the area.
Head East and depending on the map/image, you'll see another row of shops on the main road. All recently pulled down. Fenced off so nothing can get in, other than on foot.
Unfortunatley, neither can the contractors. They fenced their van in the first time!
