Hilly as Mr Kirby told us..
In all truth it is one beautiful country, if was to visit any Euro country, it would be my choice...or maybe the area the recent Tour of the Basque country took place in..

A mate has been through on one of his cycling long distance unsupported trips and mentioned its recent turbulent history.
Pictures of minefields and damaged buildings in the former conflict border areas.
But also beautiful scenary in other parts.
Also work with lad that was ex army who was on an UN mission and has mentioned some of the carnage he witnessed and the frustration of being unable to help the vulnerable.

Aye, a troubled recent past..
It was a vibrant country before their version of the Troubles.
The cycling tours always are more a tourist advert and you get the best parts. Tour of Turkey is another but I wouldn't go there although I've been in the Turkish part of Cyprus on holiday...

My mate rode to Istanbul and back, passing through Croatia amongst many other places. He has got some tales to tell regarding some of his long distance expeditions.

He did LEJOG but as he is a bit barmy did GOJLE back. However he did the normal route towards the east of Scotland.
