The ground is so dry that even after an overnight storm to end all storms several weeks ago I climbed the hill and didn't even get my shoes dirty. It never ceases to amaze me when I see the streets dry so quickly after rain as I'm so used to permanently wet roads in Jan/Feb back home!

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Having looked at the relevant pics of the suggestions on tinternet, the Alaskan Malamute looks very similar to what I saw. If I get a chance to speak to the owner, I'all ask her.

The end of my garden has a path along it, and often people walk their dogs get taken for a walk there. I sort of assumed that a husky would not make a good domestic pet.

Huskies make stunning pets, if you can deal with the walking and the fluff. Lots and lots and lots of fluff. Stickbouncer, who used to be on CC but now isn't, has 2 Huskies. He goes bike joring with them and takes them geocaching for miles and miles and miles.
Malamutes are bigger than Huskies, quieter too, Akitas are slightly shorter coated and a different shape entirely.

As I said, great pets but not the brightest dogs in the world, then again, I have greyhounds so I can't talk

Today I shall cheer myself right up with 2/or 1 (might only take 1) Sportful Flandre No Rain wind jersey's *different colours* & a couple of Rapha/Sky polo shirts, *cheap as chips* from that there SALE @ Evans Cycles.

I haven't seen @172traindriver for a few days or @ScotiaLass * I know she was Royaly narked off *

I've been popping in from time to time. Ditto royally narked off. 10 posts only! seriously, on the busiest thread on the forum, with some very long standing CCers too (Bet this gets deleted and I get a somewhat cross PM).

They've all emigrated to somewhere else. No its not the same here. Some of us still check in here. Don't know what happened to @172traindriver though as he hasn't appeared elsewhere.

Errrrm ..... long gone.

I picked up the gear this afternoon & had a sitbone measurement while I was there.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to try on & so I took them home, only to find that one of the polo shirts has a pull in it so it will have to go back. On top of that I also noticed that both packages of polo shirts had X stock printed on them, as if they were flawed stock.

Still, the Sportful Flandre jerseys are lush.
