Thought it were built, in parts at least, like Hadrian's wall. Ditch on the northern side to increase the height at very little expense in wall height.Antonine was just a big ditch.. I'm only a couple of miles from it..
The old Alba didn't have a border..
Just a hotch-potch of tribes.
Quite a bit of Roman history in the nearby area..
Troops were mostly from (todays) Belgian lands..
Took this 5 years ago at Roughcastle Fort

The sun highlights the ditch, to the right, the ground runs down to the canal (the canal follows some parts of the wall route), fort etc to the higher part..
Even back then they pinching stone from walls. Wonder if they ever tried selling it back those building the wall.
Probably left their chariots up on stones as they made off with its wheels...
A bit of Roman history near myself, two roman camps, a Roman road and a few names aling the road giving an indication of it's existence. Parts of it used later on as the pack horse road/route.
Stands out in the pictures well. You ever find owt in the general area of the wall/ditch. Gold Roman brooch, gold coins that sort of thing that you might want to sell?
