Don't you recogise the controversial German smoke deflectors, the much hated BR green livery with people wailing endlessly about it (it should be Apple Green, it's the law apparently. If it was down to me, I'd paint it back into Wartime black just too piss everyone off completely!) and also just the general expensive newness of it (it has become a bit like 'Trigger's brush and there is a reason why it is refered to as 'The Flying Moneypit') not to mention the massive hoards of people generally frothing over it as if it was the only steam loco in history ever to have existed??

Do you not get all the hate and hyperbole from that one slightly blurry image?

Not my kind of thing really. The station was packed down at the open end heading towards Stourbridge with enthusiasts and cameras.
Me and a mate were on a break leaving the messroom just going for a walk as it came through. Ironically one of our old retired lads was on the footplate as it passed and it was good to say Hi

We went to the forties weekend a few years ago, the trains were overcrowded.

It was that bad we got on at the main station, and made it all the way to the visitor centre and back for free.
