There may be a lot of truth in that statement. During my early career I had to examine a lot of land title deeds and was surprised how much of NI was 'owned' by the English. I didn't deal with legal matters in the ROI so I don't know the position there.I am sure us Sassenachs still own Ireland ....
Believe it or not, parts of Cyprus also remain in the UK - when the Republic of Cyprus was founded the British army bases remained Sovereign Territory. The bases still have there own admin/police etc., still independent from Cyprus.

He'd love it, although it's at least six months since I last went.
We've taken on someone over there so that should stop most of my trips now.
