Good Morning
Very quiet
MorninGood morning everyone. Have a good day.
Morning everyone.
I've had a hard morning thus far, and have been up for a mere hour.
About six weeks ago, my friend's youngest sister (15) was rushed to hospital after collapsing. She's had a heart condition ever since she was a baby and needed a transplant when she was a few weeks (or maybe months old), I can't remember the details. Anyway, that heart had been in rejection -- hence her collapse, and for the last six weeks she's been in intensive care and undergone some major surgeries. Her kidneys shut down while all this was going on too. She was transferred to a hospital in Toronto a couple of weeks ago.
This morning, her sister posted an update on Facebook -- they've been keeping everyone apprised of what's going on. The latest update is that while she was in surgery last week -- that lasted twelve hours, there was inflammation around her heart, and they couldn't close her up because of it. Unfortunately, due to the necessity for her to remain 'open', she developed an infection in her chest cavity. They got the culture back from that infection today.
She has developed a fungus -- it is an incurable strand. Due to the strand of the fungus, she is ineligible for any heart or kidney transplants down the road that would be necessary. She will need to be on dialysis, and therefore can't leave the hospital. The doctors have been her a few months to a year to live.
My heart breaks for the family, I know them well and I know her well, too. I am not usually an emotional person, nor am I a religious person -- but I cried a bit this morning, and I might just ask that if you do pray, or whatever -- please do so for the Marsh family.
That is such a sad story and seems so unlucky - after having a successful transplant to start with (I understand). I'm not religious either - its all such a lottery. I can only hope a miracle happens... best wishes.Morning everyone.
