Good afternoon Tea People. Today is dry, greyish and warm. I feel as if I should have plans - but my mind is blank. It takes a lot of getting used to, now that my partner has retired. Top tip for couples planning their retirement: do not live in an open plan house.

In my teaching days I started every new academic year by showing the class a picture of a half full glass and asking the obvious question. After the show of hands I went on to lay down the rule that in my class the glass was always half full because I insisted on a positive attitude at all times!

As a show of optimism in the Tea thread, I know that someone will know what that plastic bit on the end of a shoelace is called without resorting to a search engine...
I never knew it and had never during my whole life ever wondered what the name of them was.
