Well the operation went well, and my back hurts like hell now, as they said it would. The operation to get me home afterwards didn't go so well, though, as my wife didn't answer her phone for 2 hours, and doesn't know how to retrieve voice mails. They had to admit me to a proper ward because I couldn't be discharged without someone collecting me, and the unit I was on shut down for the day at 6pm. I finally left the hospital nearly 3 hours after they were finished with me. Frustrating.

Good luck with the recovery Mike.
Hope you get back to normal soon :okay:

They allocated me a cubical in which there was both a bed and a seat. I was more comfortable standing.

Morning all. I'm not sure what today offers, but I'll have a gentle walk with the pooch and see how I feel before making a plan.
What did you get done?

I have had bother with my back for years now. Had sciatica 8 years ago which left some numbness down left leg and foot, got MRI 3 years ago and was told L4 and L5 were herniated, then had my bad bike crash which I suspect did more damage and to finish it off I suspect my heavy lifting two weeks ago caused the current excrutiating sciatica down my right leg which I am still in serious pain with. I suspect I am also going to have numbness down the right side too even when it clears up. Now on stronger painkillers and an amitriptyline for night time.

I was always against the idea of back surgery but I 'm beginning to think it might be worth it.

Sitting here perched on my left bum cheek for a few minutes before I have to jump up again. Lol

Had to ask, wasn't expecting solitary though. Back being operated I figured a chair, unless you couldn't get out.

Did what they said they'd do match what what was done or match what described in the leaflet?

What did you get done?

I have had bother with my back for years now.

I had radio frequency denervation of the facet joints of the lowest 3 joints in my lumbar spine. They essentially burn off the ends of the little nerves which cause the back to go into spasm when it shouldn't. It gave me 4 years relief last time they did it, but the nerves have repaired themselves and trouble started up again some 5 or 6 months ago, and I have been having increasing sciatica, and bouts of spasm (it feels like you've been shot when this happens, and cripples you for 4 or 5 days). I'm hoping for a longer pain free period this time. Go to your doctor and ask for a referral to a pain clinic at your local hospital.
