I get by now on maybe four hours..

I've got MLB.TV which is like an online streaming TiVo box, I can watch the game in its entirety any time. I get the choice of home and away teams TV feeds, all radio feeds or like just now I watched the condensed highlights package, I use the Hide Scores etc option plus I can watch any of the other fifteen games played overnight.
162 regular season games ( the playoffs included), works out roughly at 80p per game.
They do a free game each night, trick is to wait until a month into the season, register and they gave you a 50% discount but I prefer just to keep it rolling.

I know the feeling regarding lack of sleep
I always have a bit of a lie in on a day off before getting up and getting going.
Surprised Classic isn't into the North American sports like you are. He certainly keeps the hours to watch the games.
