Midge attack??

Every time I stopped it was clegs (horseflies) that attacked me...
horrible things...
It's been a boom summer for them.

Could have got a short back and sides.

It already is shorter than that..

I've a young gull in the front garden and the parents are dive bombing everybody

I have no idea. I have never asked them what sex they are.

If you read up about them it is the females and the bites they inflict are nasty.
