Got as far as a 'really big playground' with a climbing frame in the shape of a helicopter and a 'control tower' with, and I quote: "A huuuuuge slide".

We came back when the small ones began to slow down as Beautiful Daughter needs to stay awake on the Xtracycle.

I was a bit sneaky: we went down into the valley and along there first so we could get a few K's before we arrived at the playground.

Just gently down the stream. How else?

There's your problem: we're upstream of Rotterdam, you're going the wrong way.

Would they notice, in daylight?

Was tha comin or going?

Hook your scythe on the back rail. It'd be like Terry Pratchett always says: people are conditioned to believe they can't be seeing what they are seeing so they'll filter you out.

I was riding in the opposite direction to the ship. I think it's just downstream of Dortmund.

There are sections where they have traffic lights. Or do you mean being downstream of Dortmund?
I was in Holland a few years ago and the bike infrastructure was something else, the amount of bikes parked outside Centraal Station in Amsterdam was staggering
(pic below was googled for reference but doesn't show the enormity of it all)

It's one of those 'Wow' moments
