I can't remember if it 20 or 21 the contract is up..
CalMac are reputed to be looking at putting a bid in..(rumour has it, encouraged)
We had a massively popular over 50s offer, about four times a year, they'd throw out an off-peak £10 ticket anywhere in Scotland which helped fill trains during the weekdays, Abellio stopped and introduced a free first year over 55 ticket, second year if you renewed you got a £1 anywhere off peak...and a free beverage and cake if on a trolley train but now no decent freebies, it bombed in the third year....lack of any decent offers to cover the cost ( you do get a % off off peak travel), folk were looking for the previous successful system....

The whole lot is a bit of a mess but I certainly dont have the answers to the problems. Things like that are well above a nobody such as me.

You're probably seeing them every day though. The "wise one's" who decide don't.

I was told you can't fit 10, let alone 18, in the door area. So I sent Arriva the pictures as proof.

It's basically another privatisation ploy...
1. put out to tender
2. award contract to private company(who probably donates to party in power)
3. once in operation, the old structure has gone never to be put back in place...in this case, British Rail..

They will do the same with the councils next...
we have PFI in places in schools up here..
you spend £10 million, you are guaranteed £50 million back over 20 years...

NHS is next (and going on behind closed doors with massive contracts already handed out to yon toothy conman bassa's companies)

rants over..
drink needed...
