How cheap is cheap, they've been putting their prices up a fair bit recently. Maybe they've brought them back to pre rise prices.

Well, and if it's actual poles(wooden), and a darker shade you want, what about a wood stain on what you have at present?
That could be down to the age difference. You another year older an' all that...
