Nope!

Problem here is everyone else keeps pedalling faster, if they would all slow down it would make me feel I was getting better but the harder I try the faster everyone else goes.

I feel exactly the same about you!

Thought I put in a good effort in the last chain gang and you're still right behind me like Frankenstein's monster!:smile:

I think I should boycott future races until I can get a reliable supply of EPO...

Yeah, you were on fire Bill :notworthy:. Sorry I couldn't keep up with you, I was so tired that I considered bailing several times, both before and during the race. Jumped straight to bed after cool down.
I was actually expecting a little higher avg. HR with the watts you pumped out.

I could tell you weren't your usual self Lars. I caught you far too quickly and you'd not normally let me get away from you. Thanks for the drafting though.
I think my improved time was because of drafting with you and Bridgy, and also the half hour mountain climb warm-up. The drafting would not explain my improved watts/kg but the warm-up could well be the reason for that. That's my second longer warm-up and both seemed to show an increased performance. As for the HR. I think the drafting helped to keep that down a bit and I could see it drop a beat or two when I got in behind.

Bit harsh likening Soarer to Frankenstein's monster, but then I've never met Soarer so I suppose you could be spot on. Frankenstein just never struck me as being the cycling type.

Grand to see you have not plateaued Bill, even if it means the rest of us have to work harder to try and catch you. That warming up though was a tip we perhaps should have held back;) I wish i could have bridged to you guys and drafted with you but you all went off so fast it was too much for me. And the way you then pulled away from the others suggests I would have been left too.Shame, i felt good hence the cheeky post beforehand, and although I know i wouldn't have got near your time, i am confident I would have beaten my own, bar those 2 unclipping misshaps, both at full pelt. I have tightened up my spd's in advance of tomorrow, and more importantly, saturday:smile:

Ha!

I was trying to pay him a compliment but on reflection I'm not sure I nailed it...

Now I've just got an image in my head of Herman Munster, thrashing away on a turbo trainer!

Bob, don't tell me you're still using mtn bike shoes and cleats. Those are great for commuting but you really need proper road race shoes and cleats for this game. And don't worry about having to bridge the gap next time because my start time is 15 seconds behind yours so it's me who has to bridge the gap. In theory, if I can catch you (and that's a big if) we'll have a better chance to haul in the others if we work together.
As for the warming up, thanks for the tip. Nothing elaborate for me though, just a steady 200-250 watts uphill for half an hour seems to work fine.

I had planned to join you boys last night, but had a problem during my gentle warm up in the Velodrome.

I must have picked up a splinter as I had a rear blow out which ended my night's entertainment after 7mins 14 secs - hardly worth the effort of getting changed.

It was the first time I'd been on the Turbo since I went out into the big wide world on Saturday afternoon. On inspection there was a small hole in the tyre wall, and the extra air I pumped in for the turbo caused the inner to blow.

Got a replacement tyre today, so hopefully I'll be back in action for Thursday night's event.

You should never have ventured outside, it's fraught with peril!

And always keep a different bike for the turbo and for outside use with the appropriate tyres on each.

Note: The Carbon fibre bike with the most gears and the best geometry stays with the turbo. The rat bike is for outside
I'm using my commute bike on Bkool. I only use the thoroughbred race bike one the road and only when the weather is fine.
I tend to avg. about 1.3 mph faster on the race bike, but my guess is that 90% of that is due to better position and better wheels.

Harsh but true

Soarer I'm truly sorry mate! Long week so far...

I was trying to say that like Frankenstein's monster, I couldn't shake you off. I wasn't trying to make a gag about your appearance, which for the record is nothing like said monster, but I think that's the way it's come off... if we ever meet in person you'll see I'm in no position to comment! I'm going to stop digging myself deeper in now... :shy:
