I thought of a cheap product that could fit in the back windscreen of your car that would allow the driver to flash up a message to the car behind. My plan would be that drivers could use the device to apologise to other road users...

The police used to have a roller blind in the back of patrol cars and when the policeman pulled the cord and raised the blind it read "Police Stop". When on my scooter in the '60's I saw that damn sign too often!

I built and used a rechargeable front lamp in the late 70's. I had NiCd batteries and used a 0.5A 6V bulb. Remember back in those days we ran 0.5-1W "Never Ready" lamps. My 3W one got drivers to dip!!

Not quite that long ago, but in tle late 80's/early 90's I had the permanant wiring/lights from a dynamo set-up on my commuter bike (Raleigh 531), & used a (sealed) motorcycle-battery in a small saddlebag, & just used to 'crocodile-clip' the wiring on when required

I wonder how many of us wished that someone would design/sell a gear-shifter that wouldn't require su to sit down in the saddle??, or move hands - like with bar-end shifters???

I have invented a door bell that dials your mobile phone as well as dinging and donging. If you like you can tell the caller you aren't available and they must leave a message. Haven't made it yet, or patented it and some else probably has or else there is a snag I haven't thought of.

Yes, I have just missed a parcel and have to go to the depot..

If only..
They have house alarms that do that, show a cctv image onto your smart phone of the room in the house that has activated the alarm and allow you to speak to the intruder...secure and a little bit social at the same time, how luvverly

I actually invented the mountain bike; I butchered a tiny chainring off my brother's Triang bike and bolted it to the inside of the chainrings on my ten-speed. Going up steep hills was miraculous and made me very breathless but after ten minutes it collapsed catastrophically under the strain. It took Mankind another twenty years to arrive at the same point of technical innovation.

Once they started putting cameras into phones, I predicted the next leap would be sat nav technology into phones. Wasn't far off I suppose, though the whole 'smartphone' thing did go a bit further than that.

I'd had the thought of a gps style tracker for a bike seat post or light which is actually how i found this site through googling the idea!! And have now found several in production. Which is good but i'd hoped it hadn't been thought of!!

Not exactly technology, this one.
You know those Local Attractions displays you get in Little Chefs and the like? Stuffed full of leaflets for fun places to visit?
I found a leaflet for Barometer World.
Enthused by this, I emailed round a list of Top Days Out to my work colleagues - Keswick Pencil Museum, Cassisium, Opinel Penknife Museum, Musee Rude, that sort of thing, complete with cheesy descriptions. And I thought no more of it.
Two years later, Bollocks to Alton Towers was published...
