Mmm, not sure how I feel about that. They do have to attract top performing people, and it's a huge organisation. My wife works for a charity. Not top dollar, but it is market rate.

Public donations are something I do only with my children to encourage charitability in them and get them thinking and talking about those less well off as ourselves.

Paid charity collectors are a mistake, one of many that the charity industry has made in recent years, and it has undermined the work of all trying to collect for charity.
