Telegraph: what a nasty paper.

A cyclist was killed in East London last night, 10pm, by a car apparently racing another car. Hard for the Telegraph to make it look like the cyclists fault. Unless you chose an irrelevant stock photo. Like this one.

Mod note: there is already a thread on this incident (I'm not going to say accident) in Cyclist Down.
Commiserations etc should go there. Please keep this thread for insulting discussing the merits or otherwise of the Torygraph.

Thanks. I deliberately didn't put this in cyclist down.

Well, I found it after clicking 20+ links on Telegraph site to make sure my advice on cookies was correct.

I'm going to mount a reluctant (and half-hearted) defence of the story. The Telegraph appears to have been the first ''broadsheet'' to cover the story. It was up near the top from very early on. And this probably before anyone had managed to get a photo of the junction concerned or of the police in attendance. So they got the news bit done quickly.

This won't stop me tearing into them when they deserve it.

I don't think it is the story itself that people are complaining about - it is the juxtaposition of a story about a fatal accident that (from what we know at the moment) was not the cyclist's fault with a picture of a cyclist in what most people would agree is a stupid place to be on the roads.

I post on the Torygraph as the pet liberal handwringer. A worrying number of posters on their threads would makeFred Phelps or David Irvine look like Poly Toynbee.

There is a lot of criticising of newspapers on this forum. If one does not like the newspapers stop buying them and reading them.
