Now I heard about this recently .... the phone is due to the way the old dial phones and strowger mechanical exchanges worked, when you dialled a 1 the phone sent 1 pulse dowbn the line, two pulses for 2 and so on. As you cannot have zero pulses, 0 became 10 pulses and so 0 sat at the end of the dial after 9. I forgot why the calculator is different, but nature abhors a vacuum.!
