So teletext is disappearing off our screens after 35 years.

The only two things i used to use on teletext was to check up on sport results, and bamboozle (what a great game). I can't remember the last time i used it though

How much does it cost to Oldham?
What about jobfinder?

Excellent viewing IMO.

It started out (I'm old enouh to remeber its launch.) as good as Ceefax but went off about ten years ago. Now it is harder to use menu wise and carries a lot less information than Ceefax. No loss IMHO.

Although I use it rarely now, I used to think it was the "bees knees". A free source of automatically updated info on everything from horoscopes (mumbo-jumbo rubbish) to theatre listings and sports results. It was a very under-rated resource, if you ask me

I though Ceefax was simply the BBC's brand of Teletext, rather like (I think) ITV's which was called Oracle (but was full of adverts, half of each page was taken up with them)

I don't use it that often but it will be missed IMO. It was a handy way of checking news/sports or seeing what else was on while actually watching TV. Passes the time during ad breaks.

Anyone remember the Peter Kay sketch about teletext?

"Booked it, packed it, f*cked off".

I used to use it alot for the TV viewing and news until we got our new box. And I discovered the benefit of subtitles when our middle child had colic.... that was a long 3 months or so.

I use it for the 'now and next' TV guide whilst watching TV. I only have the regular 5 channels, you see.

I only have them, but I don't even have teletext.... I work on a sophisticated system of dial twiddling on the hour...

I heard the other day, that 'they' have switched the oldest TV in the country to digital, it was a 1930's (I think) Marconiphone, still working. The biggest hurdle was overcoming the difference in line numbers. If they can do that, maybe my little B/W will live after all!
