You don't need to tell them, they figure it for themselves and then you have great fun arguing that they do.

My friends kids played the reverse psychology trick.

They 'refused to accept' that Santa never existed and would undergo a pre-Christmas set of rituals that left their parents in no doubt that they would be psychologically damaged if they played the 'no Santa' card.

This period was referred to as 'the years of plenty'.

ok i had to stop myself last night from telling my daughter (11 yrs old ) the the tooth fairy does not exsist but what with xmas not far away thought best wait till after xmas to explain that santa claus and the tooth fairy ARE NOT REAL !!!
