Hey all.

I'm off to Tenerife on a "lads holiday".. something my mates organised. I've decided to rent a bike for the week in order to escape some of their drunken debauchery. I'll be at playa de las americas. Has anyone else cycled around this area? and will any other amateur cyclists be on the island? I feel like tackling the Teide or cycling around to some of the less touristy areas.

Depending upon when you go but I assume fairly soon it will be very hot and the island is very mountainous with plenty of long hard climbs. Teide is a challenge in itself as there is very little water available once you leave the main resorts and you will climb quite steeply in places for approx 35km.

Having lived in Los Cristianos for two and a half years I know there are very few flat places to cycle.

If you fancy abit of mountain biking which the island is fantastic for contact Darren at www.lavatrax.com and he will sort you out with some fantastic days riding.
